Parking problems and maneuvering in big cities: rear view camera makes it easy
The popularity is no wonder, because straight in big cities there is more and more traffic, narrow streets and thus difficulties when reversing, parking and maneuvering backwards.
So after purchasing the camera or rear view camera system, it is ready to be installed. It goes without saying that if you buy from a trustworthy partner, you should not expect any difficulties and our camera sets will last a long time. We offer reversing cameras for passenger cars, heavy-duty vehicles such as buses, trucks, mobile homes and caravans and trailers as well as agricultural vehicles and much more.
We can advise you in advance which type is best suited for which vehicle and which set (camera and LCD monitor) best meets your expectations and purpose.
How to install a rear view camera
Installing a wireless rear view camera isn't that difficult, and you don't need to be a technician to do it. Even for the systems with video cable connection, the installation and assembly is not difficult but child's play. Just follow the information in the instructions. In the case of models in which the signal is transmitted via video cable, installation in certain cars is a little more difficult. But you can do that without any problems. Essentially, there are the following variants if you want to install a reversing camera.
- Mounting the reversing camera in the license plate holder with infrared LEDs: It's that easy! You will receive a new EU license plate holder with a built-in camera from us. Remove the old bracket and attach the new license plate bracket which can be adjusted up or down. This allows you to align the camera in the desired position, the infrared LEDs also align themselves automatically. This can even be done without drilling or further effort.
– Integrated reversing cameras in the brake light: We also have parking aids and reversing cameras in the shop that are already integrated in the brake light, but of course the function of the brake light is retained. The installation is similar to that of the license plate camera, without drilling or further effort.
Reversing cameras for installation on the bumper or license plate holder: You can use these for your front or rear bumper of the vehicle, for that we have mini reversing cameras or mini cameras for clamping.
Would you like to see how quickly the assembly and installation can be completed? Here you will find > a practice report from one of our employees, who, by the way, describes herself as a layman in technical areas. You will be surprised! (installation video >)
Why retrofit with a reversing camera?
There is much to suggest that a reversing camera should be a must have for any vehicle. Since the space for maneuvering in big cities and thus visibility is getting smaller and smaller, this can become a problem for older drivers or novice drivers, for example. Before it comes to an expensive accident, you should think about it.
In addition, the prices of the systems have fallen sharply in recent years. Nowadays you can get a very good system with a high-resolution camera and a good monitor for very little money.
Avoid accidents: As a driver, it is not always possible to keep an eye on what's happening, reversing distance and visibility around your car, especially behind your vehicle, children playing, obstacles behind or in tight parking spaces and even while driving to monitor the vehicle in front or behind you.
It's always frustrating when you look at the amount of your car insurance at the end of the year, because the accidents you've accumulated throughout the year can quickly cost you dearly. A reversing camera also saves you trouble with the police, other parties involved in an accident and the extensive bureaucracy.
We will also tell you why a wireless camera with a screen is the right solution and why a wireless rear view camera can be the right solution. In our shop you will find the right camera for your purposes. We will explain to you what you need to look out for when installing or retrofitting reversing systems.

What are the differences between a WiFi rear view camera and a wireless rear view camera?
The wireless rear view camera is becoming increasingly popular. No wonder, because the signal is transmitted without cables and no cables have to be laid. The camera image is sent to the monitor either via WiFi or radio.
With the camera connection via WiFi, you can use your mobile phone or tablet as a monitor, for example. The disadvantage here is that if you don't have your mobile phone with you, you cannot use the reversing camera for your car or the reversing systems.
Better then is the digital wireless reversing camera, which sends the video image directly to the monitor via wireless transmission, of course in encrypted quality. The wireless reversing camera combines easy installation without cables with maximum convenience when parking or reversing.
Compared to Boscam K3 or other systems, you will have more advantages with our rear view camera. We install the digital radio and also install V1 and V2 in the monitor when the wireless system stops working. So you don't have to throw away the whole system and still you have the possibility to connect up to 2 cameras with a video cable that is included in almost all of our devices.
– WiFi systems without a monitor: With this installation variant of reversing cameras, you do not even have to use an additional monitor. The signal is forwarded directly to the smartphone or tablet via WiFi. This is practical because you always have your smartphone with you anyway.
Download the app and start using the camera right away. However: If your mobile phone software version is not compatible, you cannot use the system. This is only possible with the WiFi or Bluetooth reversing camera.
– Wireless rear view camera for car with wireless monitor: You can see the camera video image on a monitor, which also has the advantage that everything works perfectly without a smartphone or tablet. This also works with a digital or analog camera without laying video cables.
When installing a wired connection, WiFi, Bluetooth and wireless connections have clear advantages. Because here no cables have to be laid through the entire car so that the image can be transmitted. The installation of a wired camera with all components is therefore somewhat more complex.
What is the difference between a digital wireless rear view camera and an analogue wireless rear view camera?
Radio waves are electromagnetic waves that carry the signal. The difference between analog radio and digital radio is the way the video image is transmitted - analog through the use of open signals, while digital transmission uses a set of scrambled signals to represent the video image.
Digital radio is more stable than an analogue radio signal and has no network interference. The analog radio transmission through the radio connection is of course also stable, but due to a few interferences in the quality of the signal, it cannot keep up with digital radio.
80% of all our reversing cameras are equipped with the digital components. Or you also have the option of converting an existing device that does not support a wireless connection or can only send an analogue video image. This is also possible with an existing car radio, please contact us.
What is the difference between a WiFi and a Bluetooth rear view camera?
Actually, both types are and mean the same thing. Only some call it Wifi and others call it Bluetooth rear camera. Bluetooth rear view camera is the same as Wifi, only the digital radio and analog radio variants differ from a Bluetooth rear view camera because this type of video transmission is transmitted to a monitor.
Why install a front and rear camera?
Several reversing cameras on your car! Front, rear or both? For many purposes, it makes sense to mount one camera on the front and one on the back of your vehicle.
Where you should attach a reversing system to be safe is of course up to you. However, we recommend using at least two reversing cameras – one at the back of the car and one at the front.
Why two cameras? This way you can not only take a picture from behind, but also see everything that is happening in front of your car. When parking or reversing, it is not only important to see what obstacles or how much space you have behind, but also how much space you have in front of the car.
Ideally you even install one 360° system, as this even gives you a movement advantage in poor visibility conditions, where you can get a real-time 360° view and thus a view around your vehicle and even record and track your journey with the built-in GPS.
Why retrofit parking aid with sensors and camera?
There are two different types of parking sensors: parking sensors that are built into license plate holders and parking sensors that are built into bumpers.
The license plate holder parking aid often has an integrated mini camera that offers all functions in one device. You can see the back of the car and at the same time hear an audible signal that warns you if you need to reverse. This offers more safety in various situations, as the driver can not only see but also hear what is happening behind the car.
An advantage of parking assistance with a mini camera or video system is that it simplifies your reversing maneuvers and the wider view allows the driver to react in time to steer around obstacles. There is almost no need to get out and check how far something is from the bumper of your vehicle. Both the parking lines in the image and the audio signals support this process.
Is it worth retrofitting a parking aid yourself?
The answer is simple: Yes, for everyone! You can retrofit all older vans or mobile homes with or without a trailer with a reversing camera, because such a parking aid is worth its weight in gold when maneuvering backwards and forwards. Retrofitting a reversing camera is often worthwhile even for new cars and not as an expensive extra that you have to order directly from the manufacturer.
It is better to do the purchase and installation yourself and save a few hundred euros if you install a reversing camera. There are also suitable systems for commercial vehicles such as trucks, delivery vans or mobile homes for all purposes and make reversing easy.
What monitors are there?
There are three different monitors:
The flip monitor for the dashboard, the mirror monitor, as a complete replacement for the rear-view mirror by mounting the monitor directly over it, or the monitor that can be attached to the windshield.
These monitor types can be found in different variants suitable for your vehicle. As described, the monitor receives the video signal via radio, video cable or WiFi in good resolution.
What do I have to look out for with a reversing camera or a parking aid?
- Opt for a durable system with robust and solid components.
- The design should also match your car.
- The outdoor camera must be weatherproof, frost and moisture must not bother the camera.
- Modern systems are activated when the reverse gear is engaged.
- You have to pay attention that it has a night vision function that helps with maneuvering in the dark.
- If you decide to go for a system with built-in sensors with a monitor, then think about acoustic warning signals, these are very helpful.
- If the monitor is installed wirelessly, make sure the monitor has at least 2 additional video inputs V1 and V2. In the event that the wireless connection no longer works, the monitor and camera will not become useless but can still be connected and operated with the video cable.
- Make sure the screen or reversing camera system has parking lines. Here, like a traffic light, the colors green, yellow and red tell you the distance and when you need to stop. Green means "distance OK", if you see red you should definitely stop. There is also a dynamic parking line in the monitor for side parking, which also helps avoid accidents. Some van or truck cameras do not have parking lines, but this can be set on the monitor if required.
- Save time and install cameras that are already integrated on the license plate holder or in the 3rd brake light.
- Remember that connection is very important, our system has the easiest connection option on the market
- Do you know who the manufacturer is! This is particularly important for any warranty claims where the product is defective or where product liability is involved. If the system causes you damage then you know who to contact as your car insurance does not cover such damage.
Reversing camera or parking aid not found for my model, what can I do?
Didn't find the right device for your vehicle or model? No problem, we build a system individually for you or for your van. This can be a VW-Volkswagen transporter, Mercedes-Benz transporter, Opel transporter, Fiat transporter, Citroen transporter, Peugeot transporter, Ford transporter, Toyotal transporter, Nissan transporter and Renault transporter, but also for mobile homes and trucks we can build an individual system for you. No matter the truck has a 3rd brake light on the back or not, you can easily mount it on the back and get the front camera image to help you orient.
You can find universal reversing cameras or even models that have been produced exactly for your vehicle and that are a good alternative to OEM equipment at a lower price than from the car manufacturer.
Many times people think that in order to get an aftermarket system they have to replace the original equipment on their car with a new set. However, this is not always necessary. In our shop you will find models compatible with yours or we can even configure specifically for your car the 3rd brake light and also such systems that can be used in any vehicle, regardless of make and model.
A system is compatible if it uses the same described type of model to be connected as your vehicle. If this is not the case, an adapter or power filter must be installed so that the image quality of the camera and the reception of the video image on the monitor are maintained.
If you don't find a system you need here or on the market, contact us by E-mail or leave us your email address and our staff will get back to you as soon as possible and build a system for you. You can also find a lot of information that might be helpful to you through our social media channels.
Is there GPS navigation with the reversing cameras?
The GPS function is a helpful feature that is already built into the 360° cameras. Simply add maps via an SD card and also use the camera as a navigation device. There are no cards in our devices
Factory fitted, you can select, buy any map provider of your choice and these will also work with the reversing system.
You can also use this to locate the vehicle if it has been stolen.
Do the rear cameras have parking lines?
Reversing cameras should have assistive properties to help you maneuver as much as possible. There are different parking lines that can be used in different ways. The standard parking lines show how and where to park, these lines are then adjustable depending on the vehicle size.
Another model is the so-called "dynamic parking line", which moves in the direction in which you are currently parking. By following the lines, you get a good view of the parking direction and can assess the distances and the objects well.
These parking lines are often built directly into the reversing cameras, which are connected via a small green cable. If you don't want these, you can simply cut through this cable and the parking lines are no longer there. These lines can be controlled via the display or switched off as required.
What is the viewing angle and range of vision of the reversing cameras?
The viewing angle of the reversing cameras depends on the camera lens and your resolution. It is important that this shows as accurately as possible the items, objects and people in the field of view, as well as the distances to them. However, the angle of view of the camera is usually adjusted so that it can capture a wider angle more sharply than the human eye.
There are reversing cameras with a viewing angle of 120° to 360°. Of course, a wider viewing angle affects safety, the more range you get, the faster you can react.
see the 360°-Reversing systems function in action
There are also the so-called “Fish-Eye” or “Fish-Eye Lens” rear cameras, which support a very wide angle, but this can also be a bit confusing for the driver. With this lens and this lens, the distances to objects cannot be estimated in absolute terms and are therefore good for observing moving traffic, but not ideal for parking.
How does night vision for rear view cameras work?
The device is equipped with infrared or LED lighting that activates automatically when it is dark and shows you a picture of what is happening behind your car. This feature should be turned on when driving after sunset or when it is about to get dark.
The night vision function with LED lights is now installed as standard in almost all cameras. Only a few reversing cameras do not have this function, but there is a night vision function in the lens without the need for LEDs. A night vision function via infrared is also available.
Do the reversing systems turn on and off automatically?
If connected correctly, the reversing systems switch on automatically. The most practical is the connection via the reversing light, so that when reverse gear is engaged, the reversing systems are switched on and the video image is sent to the display.
The reversing light is located at the back of the car, to reach it simply loosen the screws from the light and you will see the cable routing directly. Simply connect the plus and minus and the connection is established.
The display can also be switched on automatically by connecting it to the fuse box in the front of the car using the supplied power cable. The cable for the reversing light also runs there.
The reversing camera is not used in continuous operation, but you can ensure that it is only used when you really need it, namely when you are reversing and want to park.
Which reversing cameras have an integrated heater?
For larger vehicles or mobile homes, we also recommend the reversing cameras with heating, because these are not always easy to access, for example to clean or protect them from ice. An integrated heater on the camera makes sense here, so that it is always free of ice and water.
In smaller cars, where the cameras are installed within easy reach, a heater is not absolutely necessary, these can be cleaned quickly and easily.
Do reversing cameras have a recording function to save your maneuvers?
There are some camera models that automatically record the driving maneuvers that you can play on a normal DVD player. This is very useful for analyzing driving style, but also acts as a deterrent to thieves.
This type of cameras can be combined with an alarm system; this way they trigger when someone tampers with them or tries to remove them from their position.
